What is your current landline number, if applicable? 01***********

Who is asking for this information?

It's not something customers are typically expected to know, and I don't think it appears on Sky account information or billing details.

ISP customer support staff can probably look it up, because it's unique to the wholesale service currently supplying the address.

Does it actually stop you from proceeding (is it a necessary field)? Account number and telephone number plus your name & address details should be more than enough.

Hi TBG,

It was actually Vodafone who asked in an email they sent to me. I chatted with Vod today, but oddly they never mentioned the need for the Service Identifier.

Like you, I thought that Account number, telephone number plus my name & address was adequate.

Seemingly though, it doesn`t and isn`t preventing me from proceding, as I chatted with Vodafone tonight and they oddly never mentiontioned the Service Identifier aspect.

So no, seemingly Service Identifier is unimportant to them.

I did wonder whether the Service Identifier field is aimed at business accounts rather than domestic ones, and they just use a generic catch-all form. Sounds odd as it only confuses customers but in the past I have seen similar from companies in other fields.
