I have recently had a new router and it is dropping the WiFi connection every two or 3 minutes. Mobiles and tablets are being drained of charge because they are constantly looking for the signal. Why is it so difficult to get an engineer visit?

No advice, but we have same issue, commenting to add traction.

Phoned and "help is coming" been promised a new hub to try, or an engineer visit, but nothing appears or happens.

Speed test confirms wifi dropped off a cliff, to 7mb/s for example. We're paying for 900mb/s and have white Hub 6. It's not the service speed to the house, it's the hub crashing out All. The. Time.

Constant dropping in and out, light remains white but can be in the same room as hub and lose connection. Phones constantly 'hanging' on blank pages, time-out, 'no response' errors, while WiFi apparently boots up again. Tablets run down in 24 hours like you are saying. We thought Vodafone was bad, but Sky seems worse.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We too have the white box which we were forced to have because of the phone lines going digital. We have a landline purely for an elderly family member who refuses to use a mobile. We're concerned that a vulnerable person might not be able to get in contact because the box is unreliable.

Perhaps someone from Sky who is monitoring these forums might like to get in touch to have a look at the situation.

Hi there, I have same issue, however, I didn't change it my hub. I have it for 3rd year black broadband hub, but today it's the 3rd day in roll, between 6.00 and 7.00pm WiFi connection dropping off for about couple of minutes, but happen more than 5-6 times. I really don't know why is that as I haven't change anything, not the hub, not the place, not set up, nothing.

I've recently joined, less than a week ago and I'm already having these issues. Worst part is my security systems relies on a good wifi service and this certainly isn't that.

the only help I'm being offered currently is a wifi check which says everything is ok? Is this a joke because it isn't. I've done independent speed checks and these vary from 0- 500/600 and I've got the 900 gigafast speed, allegedly!!!

Thought I'd list some previously advised steps within the thread here, in case it helps someone later:

Turn hub off by pressing the WPS button for a solid 30 seconds. This forces a reboot and checks for latest software.

We performed this, but it didn't seem to solve our drop out issue. Within minutes of being off that phonecall, we still had regular absence of WiFi every few minutes.

Because our drop offs were really bad last night, we searched for answers and commented on this thread.

Also we manually rebooted hub for 2nd time, by pulling out power lead. It rebooted and we noticed hub seemed better all evening, no drop outs were noted.

When messaging with helpdesk today we were guided through some additional steps:

Logged into My Sky App:

Disabled Sky Shield under broadband product settings. Ours had been set to 13+ previously, now it is disabled.

Rebooted hub after this step (power off, 30 seconds)

Our "speed" showed 55mb/S today, so that was classed as a significant improvement.

We have 20 devices (IE door bells, couple cameras and two smart watches, tablets and games system, and laptops, etc all normal stuff. Not all of these are all on at once).

55mb/S was deemed acceptable by the advisor across 20 devices.

It doesn't seem that good to me for 900mb/s plan, but now we have to monitor for 24hrs and see how we do.

I've checked my settings as suggested and they're already disabled. I don't know if that was done by the engineer when we had initial problems or if there has been a little assistance. Either way everything has worked flawlessly today. Hope that won't jinx it 😂

Try the My Sky app. There's get help button which is supported to be 24/7 fast assistance. I'd missed that and all the phone numbers seem to direct you to the Community pages. Worth a try 👍
