I've just left Virgin and I will be choosing a service provider by the end of the month. I'd like to go with Sky fibre 900mb. My concern is do Sky/Openreach come in from a telegraph pole or can they use the old external Virgin fibre? If it's from a telegraph pole I may have a problem as the existing phone line to be replaced with a fibre line runs right through overgrown branches from a large tree. If it is a problem, who is responsible for pruning the tree, (it is on a council house property). Thanks.

They can't use the Virgin connection as that would be tied to Virgin's own network, they would need to setup a fibre connection onto the openreach network.

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker may indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable (but cannot do so if the CityFibre network is available)

Thanks, it's a pole delivery. Looks like the trees maybe a problem. Maybe I'll have stick with over priced Virgin 😞

if you mean it's on someone elses property then I would assume the current tenant is responsible but not required to do it. I highly doubt OR would consider putting a cable up either.

Edit: hopefully, since you've set a cancellation in place VM come back with an acceptable offer.
