Hi,

After receiving promotional offers from Sky to upgrade to Sky Broadband Max at no extra cost, I have decided to go ahead with it.

However, I'm not sure what kind of connection I need from the street to my home and whether we have the required setup. We are a bespoke build back from the street, I dint know what kind of cabling we have.

I have looked for a number to discuss this, but there are no numbers to be found. I don't want to waste the engineer's time.

Can anyone advise or give some direction on this.

Thanks, David

@DaviddivaD

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

@DaviddivaD buying Sky's WiFi Max package does not involve a change to your connection as it is a bundle of extras for your existing connection see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max

However I suspect you are talking about a switch to a full fibre connection replacing your current partial fibre connection where the briadband service is delivered over a copper phone line. You cancheck your existing connection by following the lead from the hub to whereever it plugs into. If its a phone socket you have partial fibre if its a box with lights its full fibre.

If full fibre is available a new line will havecto becrun from the road replacing the copper cable. How this is done will depend on whether the supplybis overhead on pols ot underground. The dnginerrs install over 80,000 of tgese each week so its a fairly well sorn path. Ifvtge install is expected to be straightforward it can beccompleted in a couple of hours. This page explains more https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/full-fibre-broadband-installation-checklist

However underground instalkations that require digging tranches etc are more complex and may require several teams on different days. While the engineers will try to accomodateca customer's reqyests there is a limit to the cost and time involved.

@DaviddivaD

That shows new provisioning of any new connection would be underground FTTP ('full fibre') but unfortunately with the complication of a potentially problematic duct.

However as @Chrisee indicates if you're just adding the WiFi Max subscription supplement then it's not a new connection.
