Another Conversion kit 1 question please.

Hi guys, another customer here who has been sent a 'conversion kit 1' as part of an upgrade.

My original message from Sky states that no engineer visit is required as everything will be done remotely.

Just curious, How does this work if there is no upgrade to my BB hub or wall socket?

If you are being moved from FTTC to FTTP then both internal and external work is required to install the new optical cabling.

If it's just the migration from analogue to digital voice service over FTTC in advance of PSTN switch-off then the conversion kit is entirely unnecessary.

I wonder how Sky assumes I won't need any internal work?

Surely they would have checked my set up before planning my needs?

Would you suggest calling in to make them aware before the switchover?

@peterp Are you moving from FTTC to FTTP? If so as advised by @TimmyBGood both internal & external work is needed.

Can you confirm what you have ordered or upgraded to?

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

'Part Fibre' is FTTC, so no change in infrastructure is required. It's frankly baffling why Sky is sending out the 'conversion kit' in this context, but you aren't the first to report it.

as @TimmyBGood FTTC is the same as part fibre, whcih is a term Sky now uses instead of FTTC generally. You shouldnt need to change the cables tbh, I have heard of cases though where people have had a new master socket installed when theyve been upgraded to FTTC as Openreach has a different master socket that they prefer for FTTC, howvever if this is needed then im sure they'll get in touch with you.
