The performance improved briefly before returning to the same faulty state. Sky sent a replacement router, but it performed no better than the original. I also found that changing the SSID reduced the router’s performance. Switching between WPA2 and WPA3 made no difference, and I tried adjusting other settings, including network settings on both my Mac and Windows devices.

Sky’s router was not fit for purpose and did not meet my basic requirements. I have now switched to another provider, and after three days everything is working as expected out of the box plug and play.

Thank you, Sky, but my techy days are long behind me.

I’ve been a Sky broadband customer for three days and I am already considering cancelling my contract. The first issues, line was connected before the router arrived and then they delivered a faulty one. Speed test shows good download and upload speeds but all connected devices are experiencing lag and slow connections. Browsing Twitter is difficult; images don’t load immediately and videos take minutes to load. It also times out randomly. WhatsApp calls are also proving a challenge.

@Nubi00

Issues get reported on here multiple times a day as it might be due to a poor or weak signal throughout your home so if this is the case try going through this to see if it helps:

https://www.sky.com/help/broadband/my-broadband-speed/improving-wi-fi-signal-to-my-devices/articles/improve-the-wi-fi-signal-to-your-devices

If not and if you have Wi-Fi Max on your account then Sky will supply up to 3 pods as you can read about here:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max

So you can either call them on 150 from a landline phone or a mobile that has a Sky sim in it or Select "No, I still need help" at the bottom on the above link.

Thanks for the advice, however the issue also occurs even when I am sitting directly next to the router also, I connected / configured a non-sky router, and it performed as expected without any issues. I have now spoken to sky bb tech team, and they advised the issue with my router is due to the device not being onboard. That has now been done, and it is performing better.

Same issues mate.

Been with Sky for a few days, wired speed is fine and Wifi with some devices seems to be ok, though browsing / social media on Apple phones and tablets has been an absolutely miserable experience.

Nothing to do with WiFi signal either, checked it all, signal strength and speed appears to be fine, and it's every phone and tablet in the house experiencing similar issues
