Guys I need some answers.

Sky have been constantly messaging me to upgrade to full fibre 75. My upgrade is due next week and I'm thinking of cancelling it. I've received a load of conflicting information from Sky.

1. They said they would send me a new router, ive had my existing one for 13 months. I have only received 2 cables with yellow bits on the end.

2. They have failed to tell me how my upstairs landline will work as only the downstairs phone can be plugged directly into to the router. I have only found this out by researching myself and no one told me when I signed up for the upgrade. I have rang several times to query this but they are unable to provide me with any solutions.

3. I have requested the engineer help me set up once complete but they can't guarantee this. I am a female on my own and have no knowledge about how to do this.

4. I only have a one double socket and an extension lead, is this enough?

5. I have been put on a new 2 year contract for upgrading? My existing contract runs out March 27 but the new one will take me to June 29!

6. I have seen cheaper broadband deals with faster speeds so feel I'm being conned. A relative of mine has recently has Sky installed with a 500 speed for the same price I'm paying to upgrade to 75.

Please can anyone shed any light on the above before I cancel the whole thing. I really don't need the headache.

I already have 2 Dect phones but not part of a set. A BT one downstairs and a Panasonic one upstairs both on bases. I'm not looking at buying new handsets just for an upgrade.

Thanks for your reply.

Perhaps keep in mind that migration from copper to fibre is going to become mandatory over the next few years, and effectively already is in some exchange areas.

I have cancelled it.

City Fibre rocked up outside when I was home so I has a chat with them. They were just assessing things before installation. They said they would have to dig up my block paving (which I've have just paid to have jet washed and re-sanded). To get the cable to the outside wall. We don't have telegraph poles in my cul de sac. I told them there was no way I was going to allow that so cancelled and complained to Sky. I have told Sky, they need to find. a better solution to bring cables in rather than digging up peoples properties. What a farce!

Terrestrial broadband requires cabling, and in the absence of poles these are going to be underground.

Perhaps note the replacement of legacy copper with optical fibre is a national project: individual ISPs are clients of the network owners.

i had this issue in December. Fibely broadband. City fibre came. couldnt get a wire to house. Sureley they can use the same duct as the adsl one. All my neighbours have fibre and they have drives. Seems City Fibre are the lazy installers. They didnt even try to find another solution.

I had a channel they could have used, gap in some edging. they refused.

There should be a better way to get fibre into a house. My current plan whioch is fttc is 30 quid now.

Im thinking to just use 5g hub

As noted in the replies to your other thread, Sky will always use CityFibre where that network is available in the area (even if this means ignoring an ONT which is already in place)

To have an FTTP installation on the Openreach network you'd need to use a different ISP.
