Signing up before a house move

Hi. I'm hoping someone can help confirm clarify if what I'm hoping to do is possible.

I am currently in the middle of a house move. Unfortunatley it's not going as smoothly as we had hoped, as we thought the move would have happened by now. My current contract with VM ends on the 29th July so I have confirmed that I want to leave on that date. I am ready for a change anyway but VM don't cover the new property so taking a new contract out with them isn't an option. For work purposes I can't really be without broadband for an extended period.

I am thinking therefore of commiting to a 24mth contract mid July with Sky for broadband and TV (Sky stream). Is it OK to do this knowing that we will be hopefully moving in the near future (unlikely to be before the end of August at the earliest)? I have checked both post codes and they both have 900mb Gigafast broadband options. I know there might be a connection fee for the new property but are there any other considerations I'm missing? Do I need to check with Sky or is it likely they don't mind as long as I have the contract? TIA

I would stop the cancellation with VM and just go into a rolling monthly deal with them, give your 31 days notice when you're ready to move to the new house. Set up a Sky contract at the new house, even if they overlap you'll have seamless TV and more importantly broadband if you rely on it for work.

Saving pennies could cost you much more.

The lead in time for activation is a minimum of two weeks depending on what infrastructure is already set up at the address.

Hubs for new activations are normally dispatched via Royal Mail to arrive at the account address a 'few days' prior to the activation date, so be mindful if you don't have keys / access.

Once it has been dispatched you should be able to track through Royal Mail. The postman/woman will usually leave it hidden if no one is in. You shouldn't need to sign for it.

They should also pop a card through the letterbox telling you where it was left and the tracking should show some information on it too.
