If the pole is marked as condemned then nothing can progress until it's replaced.

If it's at maximum load then that needs addressing before another drop cable can be added.

Openreach pole crews appear to operate semi-independently even within the wider Openreach bureaucracy.

Have got the ONT fitted, just waiting for the cable to be connected from the pole. After engineers coming looking and going away saying the same thing (the pole isn't safe) Then repeated emails and texts from them saying " you will definitely be on fast fibre soon it's just a bit more complex". Has anyone else had this problem and was it resolved?

Hi thanks. I contacted open reach about it but they've e said I've to go through my provider, who set up an appointment for an engineer to come out. They arrive with no notes, look at the pole, say it's not safe and they'll escalate the complaint and then I get a text saying "You will get full fibre but there are complications". Then it all goes round again. Looks like we may never get it so don't know what will happen when the other stops working 🤷🏽‍♂️ But thank you for your message.

That's essentially correct: Openreach aren't really a public facing company (their clients are the ISPs) and they have a whole team whose role is to monitor pole safety. I guess a potential complication is where one of the rare pole-certified Sky installers is assigned to an installation and encounters a condemned one because they won't have the same escalation pathway.
