As my bt landline is going digital how can I keep sky broadband for sky+ box

While your Sky+ box may still be plugged directly into a 'landline' socket, it hasn't actually used that connection for years: if it has online functionality then its broadband is arriving over either WiFi or ethernet cable, not the built-in dial-up modem (which was always far too slow for downloading)

There's no need to worry about the change in the telephone system or the end of service to internal extension sockets affecting any Sky television platform.

Yes, but that's done over broadband, not a phone line plugged directly into a Sky+ box.

Dial-up modem technology had a top speed of 56Kbs (and I'm not sure Sky ever went above 28.8Kbs ; ) for very basic interaction such as voting on TV talent shows. The last generation of Sky+ HD boxes manufactured in 2014-15 didn't contain modems because they were obsolete even back then.

If you are currently downloading content to Sky+ then it's over either WiFi or ethernet cable from an internet router, not the 'phone' socket.

Sky+ box is not wifi compatible and needs broadband to download on demand programmes which needs a phoneline

You can still watch live programmes without phoneline

Again, that's not correct. If a Sky+ HD box doesn't have WiFi on-board (only the final couple of generations did) it can either use an external Sky Mini Wireless Connector box to give it WiFi functionality or be plugged into an internet router using an ethernet cable.

The broadband may well be arriving at the router over a 'phone line', but the Sky+ box itself is not directly using such a line even if it has a cable plugged into its 'phone' socket.

You can still watch live programmes without phoneline

Without broadband : the distinction is important.

To go back to your original query, is this because you have a separate BT voice service alongside Sky Nroadband, or have Sky themselves sent you a message about changes to the Openreach network?

When I unplugged the phone line on demand doesn't work on sky+ box you need a phone line for on demand to work via the router

@Lexxy The phone line would not connect to your router, it sounds like you've disconnected the ethernet cable from the box to your router.

Perhaps you could provide a photo of the back of the box so we can clarify for you?

I have by phone line sky broadband but BT going digital you have to have bt broadband

Sky won't move my sky+ box nearer to the broadband they want me to get skyq

I know you can watch live TV without phone line as I have already said on demand programs are the issue

As @GD1 indicates, the phone and the ethernet sockets on the rear of a Sky+ HD box are two different things.

The phone socket is obsolete (and has been for years)

The ethernet socket may well be in use for on-demand content: if your box isn't using WiFi then it's the only way that can arrive.
