Cable difference between Sky and Virgin media

I am thinking of moving away from VM to the open reach network (possibly Sky).

I know i require a new line or reactivated externally not sure which, but was wondering if the internal cable from the wall can still be used and just replace the old router with new router or whether it is all new cables inside the house as well? My current setup is behind a media wall which has access to existing cables but not from the floor where I assume the new internal cabling would come from.

Hi @gersfanuk

When you switch to an Openreach fibre network you will need completely new cabling both externally coming into the house and all your internal cabling.

The Virgin cabling will become redundant and can be removed if desired.

Edit: if you have an ethernet cable running from you media wall to the Virgin ONT , you can of course use this cable and plug into openreach ONT, depending on where its located .

Historically Virgin laid a coaxial copper cable network, not optical fibre or ethernet.
