Amazon Smart plug not connecting to my wifi

Hello to everybody, Trying to install an Amazon basic smart plug, it is not recognising my WiFi channel, tried to login on the router page as the instructions for the plug state 2.4ghz, but the page keeps telling me wrong password? What is frustrating I have an older plug from amazon same specs 2.4ghz which has connected no problem, I'm assuming the router is working on 5ghz. Any help or advice would be most welcome.
