It is actually pretty unlikely some lose wiring would affect your Sky Glass TV. However if it bothers you talk to Sky who will report your concerns to Openreach who own the pole and it is up to them whether anything is done not Sky..

However assuming your broadband service is not dropping out it is unlikely that is your problem. Far more likely is a poor WiFi connection between the hub and your Glass TV. Go into the TV's settings snd find the network section which will tell you the quality of the WiFi connection if thst isnt excellent thst is likely to be the issue. If you talk to Sky they will sell you their WiFi Max package and supply an exxtender to be fitted half way between the hub and the TV.

Hi,

I’m having ongoing Wi‑Fi issues specifically with my Apple devices (MacBook Pro M4, Ipad 7 and iPhone 11 and 13), connected to my Sky broadband . The signal is strong, but I regularly lose connection — especially with DNS resolution failures — and the only way to fix it is by restarting the router. This doesn’t happen with my husband’s non-Apple laptop, so it seems device-specific.

I ran full Apple Wireless Diagnostics and found repeated DNSFailureRecovery traces, which appear to trigger a forced Wi‑Fi reassociation.

I’ve already:

Reset network settings on both devices

Restarted the router

Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1

But the issue keeps coming back.

This seems to be a known Sky/Apple compatibility problem. Is there:

A firmware fix in progress?

A DHCP or IPv6 setting that can be adjusted?

Or should I use my own router behind the Sky box?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated — it’s becoming really disruptive.

Thanks in advance!

We just had fast fibre put in and I am having the same issue with my iPad. Other devices in the household are fine but mine cuts out on a regular basis (every 5-10 minutes) and I have to go to settings and change it to a hotspot (which has currently used all of its data) and then go back to the Sky WiFi and it's working again. It's becoming quite frustrating. I wish my husband hadn't agreed for them to come around and change it as it was working fine before.

Hi,

I,m not very technical minded but my husband did something that made it work ok and stop dropping out (welll I'm a lot happier as it was driving me crazy before, happening every few minutes). We had an old Netgear WiFi extender and he plugged that in (you can get one on eBay for around £5 and p&p or probably another brand) and now we have the usual WiFi address and one with EXT after it in my WiFi settings. I know if I select the usual one that it will keep dropping out, but with the EXT one it stays on pretty much forever unless the internet goes down completely. Sorry about my dummy guide, but I hope that's helpful

Thanks for your input

i solved the problem, i did quit sky

too many issues other than this one (a full year of no inter net for days - due to the outside box on the street , sky fixing it but failing again due to this box after a few days), poor customer service

no more sky and now reliable internet via another provider

@Chrisl49 ensure you have selected both Auto-join and Auto-login in the settings on the iPad for the Sky connection. If you have and the issue continues delete the connection then power down the iPad fully (hold down the side button with a volume button until the power slider appears) the restart it and add the connection afresh as the memory setting maybe scrambled which the restart should clear.

Hi, many thanks for the suggestions, I did reset my IPad to auto-join yesterday, wasn't aware of the auto-login as well though. Have now turned that on so, fingers crossed that has solved the issue!

I had got auto join on but it kept taking too long and interrupting my browsing. We only tried the extension gadget because we had one anyway. So it may be an option if you get frustrated with it constantly cutting out and making you wait while it tries to join, if it does.
