Hi, I actually came up with the same title as you at the same time while troubleshooting. I deleted mine and ordered a USB-C to Ethernet adapter since my laptop doesn’t have an RJ45 port. That said, seeing you report the same issue - along with the activity on DownDetector makes it pretty clear the problem is on Sky’s end.

FSA, I had issues last night and now into this evening while trying to play LoL. Have tried absolutely everything on a WiFi front.

Over the last week our ping has been getting higher and higher. with this heat. weve reset the main router multiple times and this is on a wired connection to a pc. it sits at 48ms then jumps for no reason to 2000ms and higher making some games unplayable. never had this issue before but there have been problems in the area of sky broadband having issues our speed it self is fine and jumps around anyway but its the ping that makes it terrible to load anything or play games.

yh ive tried disconnecting all other ethernet connected items but same issue. ive even gone down the route to change the channel were on within the admin side of it but no luck. over the past few hours its gone as high as 25k and as low as 25ms we normaly get 9ms to 13ms. weve been with sky a long time and never had it this bad but youd struggle to get a enginneer to come have a look or replace the copper cable coming to the house. we had it replaced once over 7 years ago but i cant see thats the high ping issue, or we would be getting **bleep** speeds.

@KT62 & @abal8 it is worth trying to find where the delays are happening. One useful tool is Thinkbroadband.com's Broadnand Quality monitor which works as long as your router responds to pings which the black Sky hubs do. The test measures the performance between the server in the main London Internet exchangecand the router ie Sky's network and the local lopp. See https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality

The next possible pinch point is the hub's capacity Sky build their hibs to a cost so all traffic is dealt with in turn so if someone is streaming video in your home the hub can become a bottleneck which is why many gamers buy a gaming router which has QOS so gaming traffic can be prioritised. You will know if that could apply to your own situation.

It is also worth checking gaming forums as these pick up on routing issues to specific servers while Sky generally have good pairing agreements some servers can hit issues which switching servers can sort.

In summary latency issues can have mutliple causes and identifying which is key to sorting them.
