topic Current broadband provider received unauthorised switchover request in Broadband

I am currently a TV and Broadband customer of another provider who has just cut off my wifi and ended my contract early (incurring fees), due to recieving a takeover request from another provider which I did not initiate.

I am a Sky Mobile customer and was looking into switching to Sky broadband when my current contract is up, however this was just research for later down the line when I'm out of contact. My current provider is refusing to provide the name of the company that requested the switch (I've escalated this) so I can investigate, but I thought my best bet would be to reach out to Sky to see if something triggered this to happen, which I can then resolve.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

If you haven't signed up to Sky then what might have happened is someone somewhere has made a mistake when placing their order (this can and does happen) and has used your details in error, it could be any broadband company as the switching service covers pretty much all of them.

It's usually as simple as an incorrect podecode or house number being entered.
