If just BB then I'd have thought you must be out of minimum term, contact Sky and see what they can do, you have the option of switching if you can't find common ground.

Hi

im being charged £40 p/m for Ultrafast broadband . My speed according to Sky app is 151 mb/s every month. A) this doesn't sound ultra fast? And b) £40 p/month seems so expensive. Sky say there is no cheaper option as I have fibre to the house now. We are in a town with a super fast green box down the road. Any advice much appreciated.

@SalTwed

'Ultrafast' is essentially a marketing label: potential full fibre speed bands include 100, 150, 300 and 500Mbs. 900 Mbs is typically labelled as 'Gigafast', and a quick check on Sky here has also shown a 75Mbs option.

It's not possible to have FTTC where FTTP has been installed, so the cabinet isn't relevant.

FTTP can carry speed as low as 40Mbs: ISPs don't have to offer that though.

Incidentally the situation is confused because technology changes.

'Superfast' used to be 'up to' 40Mbs or 80Mbs on FTTC because the previous ADSL had a maximum of 24Mbs, and 'Ultrafast' was anything speedier than Superfast.

These days Ofcom and the Government would prefer Ultrafast to mean 300Mbs and above.
