I'm switching to sky broadband from virgin , I currently have my wifi 7 mesh system (3x BE9300) with using the virgin router in modem mode , I also have a dedicated axe 75 router for quest 3 vr only .

I realise you can put the sky router in modem mode and therefor would have to put my mesh system in AP mode and disable wifi on the sky router .

on my current system I have a separate IOT , MLO for various types of devices .

can I mimic this set up with the sky router . Is there any problems that could arise .

@Markyh_uk assuming you are buying a full fibre service from Sky it should be possible to connect your Netgear unit directly to the ONT if you want. You will lose the landline facility but is should connect either by using DHCPv6 PD which 80% of Openreach lines supportor if you are unlucky you can use the DHCPv4 Option21 method I think your router supports.

if you want to use the Sky hub you have a choice of either connecting the Netgear in access point mode in ehich case I would disable the Sky hubs wifi. The alternate is leaving the Netgear in router mode and use it in a double NAT configuration which most apps are happy to use.

Hi ,

thanks for your reply .

My WiFi 7 mesh is a deco tp link be9300 .

i don't want to use a double Nat , I've had issues before , especially with gaming .
so I guess I'll have to use my mesh in AP mode and disable sky router wifi .

i guess what I'm asking is can you see if there's potential issues with this configuration. I don't want to lesser the effect of my mesh system .
I don't need the phone line .

when the city fibre engineer comes this Friday , is this something he can make work .

Thanks

So my max hub arrived and the engineer installed the line . He didn't know much about what we've been talking about on here so as soon as he left I unplugged the sky hub and plugged the Ethernet cable from the ont to my deco mesh hub . It worked perfectly first time . 1100 gb download speed and similer upload speed , it's been fine ever since . The only thing that was different was with the sky hub connected it had 3 green lights , but with my deco connected it had top two green and bottom amber .

however today my girlfriend was cleaning and unplugged the deco hubs , there were off for an hour or so , now I can't connect back to the ONT , the deco hubs just go red . The lights on the Ont are still two green bottom amber .

I've tried turning off Ont and deco for 5 mins . Still goes red on deco and won't connect .

???
