It's just strange how the 'Out of date' router worked just fine for all the devices.
So beggars the question, if this so called 'up to date' version doesn't work why are Sky pushing them ???
Almost in kin as the smart meters for ones gas and electric have so many problems.
Modern technology.......

Router in the wrong place...(Fibre cable doesn't bend).
It does, but not at sharp right-angles. It's the Optical Network Terminal location which is limited: the Hub can be positioned further away from the ONT by acquiring a longer Cat5e ethernet cable.
Need boosters in three locations in the house. Which had to be paid for ! ! !
That's typically a Hub WiFi issue, not fibre. Repeated posts suggest the white Max Hub underperforms in some properties.
Lost connections to security cameras.
With a white Max Hub you may need to reduce the wireless security level from WPA3 to WPA2-PSK using the Hub settings in the My Sky app.
Any one else having such wonderful treatment from the new all singing dancing updated fibre cable

Yes: changing technology can bring complications. FTTP is however a fundamentally better data delivery technology than FTTC as it isn't limited by distance, can carry far higher speeds and doesn't suffer from the myriad fault conditions which affect high frequency electrical signalling over outdoor metallic cores.

Forgot to mention as well, telephone base set also has to be in the same awkward location as the router. So have lost two extra handsets. And a divert to check if I received any messages whilst I was out... Fibre cable installer refused to put the cable in original location and .. when speaking to a sky rep (finally). Was advised, you can get it put in the location where it was originally but.... You have to pay for it to be done....

I suspect that's not really true: Openreach has theoretical options of both 'Premium' and 'Advanced' FTTP installation visits but typically ISPs don't actually have a way of ordering these on domestic subscriptions.

As already suggested buy a longer Ethernet cable and movecthe hub to a better location. Ensure it is on a surface so it is above obstructions like radiators. If your home has solid internal walls which are common in older UK homes the Sky WiFi Max packagecis not ideal. However there is nothing stopping you from buying a third party WiFi system as I did myself. The saving in not paying for WoFi Max paid for it in under 18 months.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate all the knowledge you are passing on. But. It doesn't help with the problems incurred because of the lack of help and lack of expertise from the engineer. In fact. The attachment from the fibre cable to the cables is loose. As is the junction outside. But have you tried getting through to sky to speak with someone where you can understand the heavily accented English. No. Not prejudiced , I have a hearing problem, no not deaf either. Biggest thing is actually getting through to a live agent... I do appreciate the knowledge you have but it is not really helping me.
Incidentally, at least one online source has a kit solution for DIY relocation of an ONT using plug-in fibre optic couplers with a pre-terminated cable to create an extension: actually using this may or may not upset Openreach.

Hi Chrisee,

the cable you are referring to would have to go the width of one room, across a hallway and across a rather large room, which just happens to have a bay window.

we are talking quite a distance.
and I switched on my desk top computer which is connected to a WiFi booster and the WiFi won't connect.

yes I did try all the suggestions. Booster box shows WiFi but it won't connect..

I have already bought a booster for the bedroom.
everything was working fine until I used the up-to-date router

i do appreciate your response.
thank you.

Hello,
I recently had my sky fibre installed back at the start of this month and been having constant drop outs. the router is not even a foot away from the ONT, eithernet light keeps going out. Had CityFibre come out today to have a look at the issue and didn't see any issues so it may be a router issue. I'm on the Sky Hub (Black varient not Hub Max) and it only took an hour after the visit for the connection to drop.

So I am now having to reach out to Sky support in the morning over the phone and see if they can send me a new router.

honestly this is getting stupid. my next door neighbour has the same city fibre install but with a different provider and has no issues.

@DavidVoyager If the CF CityFibre Engineer said they were fine then getting a sky Hub replacement is the next for you, take it the call you have to make to sky is too make that all happen now! Your constant drop outs do you see anything sky Hub wise at the time, ie a light changes or nothing at all? See the link below about the sky Broadband hub lights!

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-which-sky-hub

This link below provides information about the coloured lights on the various hubs that can help to see what is going on! If the system is also Full Fibre then the lights on the OR/CF ONT also require to be looked at!
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/hub-lights-explained-start

@mags_- The sky Max hub you have now is a different animal to the old sky Broadband Hub, there are a few settings on it that can help with the transittion from the old to the new, and you have to be very carefull of the booster's that you get to try and work with the sky Max hub, you dont say what you have so makes it kind off hard to work out!

To adjust the Max hub, link is below as a reference but you have to use your MySky mobile app to adjust, the advanced wireless wifi and if it is on WPA3-T step it back to the WPA2-PSK mode, that is the same as the old Broadband Hub was using and as far as it went! Use the link as a reference to do and see the explanation it provides!

Sky Max change settings link.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/change-wifi-max-hub-settings-a

If you wish to say what boosters you have please do!
