Upgrade to Full Fibre Gigafast

Hi All.

I have just spent quite some time negotiating a new deal for my Broadband Package, as i have been suffering with slow performance. The feedback i have had is:

'I’ve had a closer look at your setup, and I can see you’re currently on our older Gigafast package. I’ve offered you an upgrade to our latest Full Fibre 900 service, which runs on FTTP (Full Fibre to the Premises). This is a big step up in both stability and performance'

I followed this up by asking if i would need any new hardware to support this change, to which the reply was no. Having done some limited research, i am understanding that i need a Fiber ONT ? could you please advise if this is the case or if i have just upgraded to the same package under a new name !

That doesn't make sense: any Gigafast product requires an ONT because such speed can only be delivered over a full fibre circuit.

Assuming they actually meant Superfast (FTTC )then yes, you'd need an ONT to be fitted along with a fibre optic cable feed.

That would also be the case if you currently have Ultrafast 1 over a G.fast circuit.
