Trying to block youtube and roblox on router

I've tried going into the main router settings and adding websites and keywords to block but doesn't work. Also tried using the sky shield to do the same but not working. I've tried doing it for certain times and as that didn't work tried always block them but none works

@Macca8100 Sky hubs have no mechanism to allow blocking of certain apps or domains. The.way Broadband Shield works is to use Sky's DNS set up which provides IP addresses to route traffic from your connection. This works where an app requests a DNS which You Tube apps for example do not as the IP addresses are hard coded within the app so they skip that step and the filter. Not sure about Roblox but I suspect it maybe similar.

The parental controls that Sky have as part of the WiFi Max package work by blocking a devices access which works for younger kids but tech savvy teenagers can get round even those. Have you looked at Google's own account controls for kids assuming that is what you are trying to achieve? Robolx appear to be introducing some controls as well.

I guess I could give the iPad a static ip and then just block the Internet in total between certain times. That should work shouldn't it.?

@Macca8100 you cannot program a Sky hub to block an IP address. Sky's parental controls use the device's mac address but even that is easy to get around for a tech savvy kid.

Some third party routers have parental control functions but I have no experience of how effective these are but I found this review https://www.highspeedinternet.com/resources/best-parental-control-routers although from the US the models listed should be available in the UK.

This is for a 7yr old. If I go to router settings and give the iPad a static ip inside the router and block internet to that Mac address or IP at certain times that would do any internet usage at say bedtime yes.?
