Sky router options?

Hi all, looking for some advice, just upgraded from full fibre 150 to Gigafast 900

current router is the SR203, quick question,

is this unit suitable?

should I have been offered a new router to match the upgrade?

if I want to employ a new router other than paying more for the "max router" version, can I purchase a unit and connect as required?

Appreciate any responses, I am aware that the default seems to be that if you are a new customer then the necessary items are offered, but we've been with Sky for nearly 30yrs it would be nice to have the latest and improved version

@Jackalo given very few if any people need 900Mb/s over WiFi the SR203 which tops out around 700Mb/s is actually suitable. It can of course support Gigabit Ethernet. The Sky Max hub is WiFi6 so potentially can offer 900Mb/s over WiFi but as soon as you put a wall or two between the hub and the device speeds inevitably drop and the new hub does not have greater range.

If you have Sky Q boxes your existing router is better as it supports those units completly the Sky Max hub doesn't so you lose their WiFi extender ability and the Q minis have to connect to the main Q box.

You can of course use a third party router the Asus range is popular as it is quite simple to connect directly to the ONT but you losecthe Sky Talk voice line. There is another alternative which is to use the Sky hub as the router but use a third party WiFi mesh system in access point mode.
