I've been told that the government are insisting we ALL go onto a faster network to the providers such as sky.

Sky told me when this faster broadband gets installed soon MY CONTRACT TV AND INTERNET WILL BE EXTENDED FOR 2 YEARS.

It's their policy WHEN ANY CHANGES ARE MADE then it renews a 2 year contract from that day. This is NOT FAIR ON CUSTUMERS whom don't want another 2 years contract !!!! They are saying WE HAVE NO CHOICE. It's taking advantage of their customers. I'm sure it can't be legal as we can't refuse the Internet changes. Comments????

@shazy123 nobody is forcing you to switch at the moment however some point the old copper based network will be decommissioned but that is at least 5 years from now. Sky are encouraging customers to switch to full fibre as it saves them money but does involve recontracting as the network operator needs to recover the cost of setting up the new connection over a period meaning Sky needs a new contract with theend customer. The customer gets a far more reliable connection which can run at much higher speeds if required so ccan cope with many more services.

If you dont want to switch now you dont have to but when your fixed term contract ends if you shop around for a new one you will be likely not given the option as Openreach insist thst new contracts use Full Fibre.
