Open Reach failures

Are people suffering failed appointments by Openreach to carryout civil works and instal fibre ? So far despite assurances by Sky and escalation by specialists i have had 6 cancelled appointments so far !!!!!

@Bomber89b You will find that is a yes, lot's off factors from scheduling, lack off crews, time it takes ie crew this location currentlly doing ONE home, been all week and still not done, diggers, path tarmac cutting, one side road to the other, blocked traffic management etc etc new ground box installed, and that's only the first part getting done from Sept 2024 when OR said ok your all good to go, having a laugh for halve the homes in the Estate! Sickness, jobs taking way longer than expected you name it then it happens!

@Bomber89b So unless you are off a pole top completed Fibre with a CBT ready to go, with a direct run off Fibre to the home roofline you will be in that twilight zone off when it happens! Best done so far was 1 day shy off a full year from order to install, think OR were embarased to go that full year so pulled the finger out!

Thanks for the info it is frustrating when I can see the fibre box in the ground with only 5m of road to be dug for the trunking to be put in for the cable run. On top of this my broadband speed is now running at 75% capacity. Very Frustrating.

@Bomber89b My son worked for Circet Civils doing all that, it is one off the most abused jobs that you can have customers take there frustrations out completely on the Engineers trying to do there job, told him to quit it and he did, went back to doing Scottish water pipe civils again, water you see and when the mains are bust everyone wants it fixed pronto and it happens!

Fibre appears to be the end off the world in the waiting game!

Typically a road dig requires acknowledgement by. both the Local Authority and all the utility companies with existing or potential infrastructure in place there. It also needs Openreach to have a suitable team available, the appropriate equipment and, potentially, traffic control (for which another Local Authority application is required)

In relation to the ladt post by the superuser I have been assured by Sky who have been in contact with Open Reach that ALL the permissions are in place !

@Bomber89b Think that's a good to go then, planning will be messing about with it all now, should they all be in India then that get's funny, normal for a OR Engineer to pop by and arrow paint everything as they plan....

Even had one off the neighbours, planning did it all to a ground box across the street with NO access to it OR turned up went oops that wont work and promptly departed months ago never to return yet, so that one balls are all up in the air, to say that home is well P'd off now!

Well low and behold and no surprise message from sky saiying open reach have delayed til mid Feb which was already pushed out the other day before OR stated they would be here Monday and Tuesday this week tben yesterday. In this day and age ludicrous situation where the provider has very little sway over OR. Feel a letter to the ombudsman coning on and my MP.

You can thank the privatisation of British Telecom back in the 1980s for that particular mess...

Openreach needs to hit 85,000 new FTTP installations every week throughout this year to hit the target date: some are inevitably going to encounter delays.

Same here, we moved on the 2nd - 11th open reach came out & on 18th ( I was home) they wrote that I was out 🙄. Still no connection and sky charging me

I have done on many occasions, new open reach date 27th, thats another blimming week. Really thinking of getting another provider now, enough enough.

@Kyester You can do that, sky will cancel your order, so you will be starting from scratch all over again just remember all the cancellation details for the previous if you home moved come back into play prior to your move. If you need that it's on the sky help!
