topic New Broadband in Broadband

I've had 2 engineers to my property, one added something outside and the other has been today and added a new box inside my house along with a new router. However, the connection is no faster than it was before, so what was the need for this???? Apart from it being an eye sore?

What does the MySky app show as your speed?

@ALX1889 thecreason for switching from partial fibre to full fibre is to allow much higher speeds and higher reliability as the use of the copper phone lines had been exhausted. Openreach plan to decommission the copper network at some point.

There are multiple reasons why speeds using your new connection have not increased herecareca few

You have bought a similar speed to your hub full fibre supports speeds from 35Mb/s to 1 Gb/s and Sky have multiple producys leaving customers to make the choice. One difference is full fibre speeds do not drop due to the length of the line unlike partial fibre.

the speed your device can access is set bybthe slowest part of the link which is frequently the speed of the WiFi connection in your home. If that is the reason having a faster speed to your hub will make no difference.

the full speed of a new connection can sometimes not be available for a few hours aftervthe connection goes live

Hopevthe helps.
