@Barry+Mc+Kelvey theoretically they can get their line upgraded as there must be two physical connections to the property your full fibre connection and the copper line their FTTC service uses. That is an unusual set up and potentially could cause confusion if they switched to a different supplier than the one providing the FTTC connection but tge Sky switch should work.

Openreach could simply change the ONT you currently are using to one with multiple outlets one of which would supply the EE service and another providing the Sky service with no direct impact on each other. Alternatively they may install a complete new fibre line. It is highly unlikely you would be offered a choice as the way full fibre works all of the data addressed to the potential 30 users of a distribution point goes to every connnected ONT which simply passes through the data addresssed to you and ignores the rest.

Interesting to hear what actuals happens if they upgrade.

The fact you have Fibre there should be no reason why not unless there is a restriction and the CBT is all sold out! You could try the BTW but dont think it will show up, but it's worth a shot! Try both ways telephone number for the home and the address checker options!

BT Broadband

Edit: Sky Fibre check is working fine, just did it against my postcode and address and see every option!

My parents currently pay £35 p/m for 80 mbps, but only get around 37mbps over WiFi.

Thanks

Barry 🙂

Hi

ive just spent 2.5 hours with Sky via chat. Long story short, they can't upgrade the FTTC line to FTTP, as Sky Full Fibre isn't available in my area. This is despite me getting numerous emails from Sky stating that FTTP was now available in my area.

Barry 🙂

It was deemed that there was an issue with the underground cable at the front of my house. The street was dug up etc, new cabling, piping etc was installed to the front of my property.

When I originally had FTTP installed, I was with BT. There was no digging etc to be done, all the underground work was done.

They installed some sort of grey square box outside my property, this is when BT's cabling was connected to. From that box came the fibre optic cable, to the ONT inside my property.

It was during the COVID era I had BT FTTP installed, 900 Mbps. Then I'd switch to EE 900 Mbps, as it was cheaper. In the last six months of that contract, I'd upgraded to EE 1.6 Gbps.

Im not at home, I'd usually phone Sky via 150 from the landline. That's why I'd used chat today.

Thanks

Barry
