That would be great if the port forwarding was clearly there in the router admin web pages, so it could be backed up. But Sky has chosen to force port forwarding settings to be set on the My Sky app for the latest routers. I believe that means that the port forwarding is stored somewhere in their cloud off the router itself.

I'm an SR213 (Sky Hub 6 v1) user

I'd previously set up a port forward for HTTPS to my internal home automation system IP via the My SKy app (why we have to do this rather than in the router web interface I'd love to know).

I've been having a lot of trouble accessing the said system from outside my home despite having verified DDNS resolution (DuckDNS) and everything working well internally.

Eventually I trace this to the router no longer forwarding and when I look at the My Sky app there is no evidence of the rule I previously saved in there.

I've started to add an external web site checker to see if my system external URL resolves OK, but that is not addressing what I see as a potential issue with Sky services.

So - is it common to have to check periodically if rules are still there? Is there a risk that any My Sky app update could wipe these? Do I have to worry about my phone altering the app permissions or data access and me somehow losing the app settings affecting my router?

Factory reset may return it back and wipe setting, and always possible a FW update although most try to keep the settings prior to updates intact when possible!

It is possible that an update overwrites the change on the hub. Irritating but possible . The SR213 is heavily locked down so is not particularly suutable for anything beyond simple use.
