Hi @TimmyBGood

I guessed that would be the case but if i wasnt going to get any improvement in speed at all i would have evpected they should have told me because otherwise its a waste of time. It took 4 visits from engineers before they finally mahaged to get the fibre in. Its a pretty standard, quite big, mid-terraced house but my phone line comes in from the back and i have an extension across the whole of the rear so getting the cable to the front (where the lounge and the main TV is) is tricky. When i first swapped from Virgin cable broadband to sky, i had to get an aerial installer pal to throw the phone line cable over the roof. They didnt recommend doing that witht the fibre cable,

@JimM1 Just seen youre latest reply and if i can get 200mb it would be easy enough for me. TBH it was ok before at 60-70mb, theres only me and the missus now, kids have moved out so no gaming going on etc. I only really "upgraded" because i was out of contract and it was actually a few quid cheaper for full fibre.

I'm sure theres a setting off somewhere but it will no doubt take an engineer to visit and suss it out.

Thanks for your help guys, I will give sky a call after xmas

Ive just had sky full fibre installed but there is not increase in speed. Im supposed to have sky full fibre 500 with a minimum speed guarantee of 400mb/s. Im currently getting 70.1mb/s.

Curiosly although my original hub has been disconnected and a new hub installed, my network name and password are the same

Hi Jim. My old hub was a sky Q model and the new one is the sky broadband hub. I also had a wifi booster before and that has been used again. I have a main sky q box and two min boxes. The old hub was plugged straight into the main sky q box but the new fibre feed has had to be fed to a rear back bedroom so the new hub is there on its own so everything is connected by wifi (i assume)

The location is possibly going to be bad you are just going to have to see how it all goes... The new sky Broadband Hub is now the one in charge, 4 Green lights on it, Power Internet WiFi and voice all lit you know it is connected...

The same name is a little out left field unless the sky Engineer jumped in and set the SSID/Password to match your older sky Q hub, if he did then good on him/her, makes it a lot easier and smoother transition for you, phone will need to go plug into the back off your new sky Broadband Hub if you are using a landline....

Engineer's normally connect up make sure you are working on the Fibre and if so they go kill off the copper connection as YOU CANNOT have both going together! Phone landline takes 24-48hrs to transition over from one to the other!

400Mbs is 'guaranteed' speed as far as the Hub over optical fibre and ethernet cable, not WiFi from it.

You can expect when you are close to the new hub and wireless wifi testing and assuming your device is GOOD enough to do so the speeds around the 400Mb/s mark, my Samsung A54 i never trust it for testing, it's just too erratic so take it all with a pinch of salt so to say, laptop is way better and on my FF500 i hit 500/70Mb/s virtually all the time, but if the network does get real busy have seen it as low as 200Mb/s download, there is NOTHING i can do about that so it's a suck it up and wait for it to get less busy!

For sure the FF500 is the sweet spot fibre speed as it will cover virtually all the needs for the home on a SHARED network!

If you happen to have a telephone extension in the bedroom then once OR have killed your copper you can look to lift the incoming pair of cables and see if the existing wiring still all works, cable from the sky Hub to a Telephone jack can make all the landline phones work again, BUT it is all down to the wiring, if you have a Dect style multi handset phone system, just plug the main base station into the back off the sky hub and see if everything still reaches and connect's phone wise!

Yes slinging the Fibre over the roof is a complete No No for sure, and no Engineer is going to do that, more than there job is worth, instant sack for that!
