I want to change my account name , from my partners name to mine please as he’s no longer living here.

That's not possible. Sky don't allow that. The account holder needs to cancel giving the required notice of 14 days if not in a discounted period and return any loaned equipment Sky want back in the packaging they'll send out.

Only then will you be able to join in your own right.

That isn't possible I'm afraid as Sky do not do account name changes. The only way around this would be for the account holder to give the requited notice to cancel and once this has happened for you to sign up to Sky in your name.
