Alternative modem/router

I know there are already so many threads on this subject but I've yet to find one that fits my circumstances.

I'm looking for recomendations.

I have Sky superfast FTTC broadband with an Archer third party modem/router in place. I don't use the Sky supplied router at all. My own router only has WiFi 5 speeds and I need something faster. I have considered WiFi MAX for an additional £4 on my bill but I've also seen quite a lot of reviews saying it is not very good. I need WiFi 6 or faster for some CCTV cameras.

I have also considered using the sky supplied modem/router with a third party WiFi 6 or 7 router attached but the Sky routers do not seem to have the ability to go into a bridge mode, well not that I can see anyway.

So the ask is, is there a WiFi 6 or 7 compatible modem/router that I can use on its own, without the need for the Sky modem/router. Or is there a way of adding my own WiFi6 or 7 router to the sky modem/router I have currently boxed up in the cupboard and use it in some kind of bridge mode?

Many thanks.

First to look at but make 100% sure it is the DSL version for the FTTC connection!

ASUS DSL-AX82U (AX5400)

@Foobsy See above then, not going to recommend anything other than Asus, thin on the ground to say the least with the VDSL connection method, but go Tp-Link it's a lottery for working or not and you have only one choice the VX1800v since you wish to stay wi-fi6 onwards.

You can also look at AP's those will work but you need to know what you are going to do with them, CCTV on wi-fi 6 not many with that spec for sure!

Tp-Link user like yourself, go download the User guide and see what/if it will all gel for you! Just did one with an OP but connected on EE no issues for it on that service!
