Sky WiFi Max hub

I've just sgned up for Sky and see they're due to send a Sky Wifi Max hub. Are they sent as standard with premium features disabled. I'm sure I never clicked the Add Wifi Max button for an extra £4 when signing up. There's no mention of a £4 charge on the Broadband Contract Summary pdf I got either. Can't really check anywhere on the account to see future bills as I guess I'm not yet activated and going to 'Your products" just has a spinning clock.

@SteveLP If you are not paying the extra maybe it's all included in you package, byrt extract from my e-mail.

Thanks James, this is part of the email contract and no mention of the Wifi Max £4 charge but does include a Max hub for some reason. Be nice if it's included as they're WiFi but not so much if all otions are locked down cos I won't be paying the extra

@SteveLP Think it's the sky wifi, at £0, so looks like you are getting the max hub, but that is it, nothing else and all that goes with nothing.

@JimM1 yep, I thought the WifI actually being priced at £0.00 in the contract hopefully means Max hasn't been added on. Maybe they've just run out of standard hubs at the moment or trying to compete with other ISP's by giving wifi 6 as standard. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

@SteveLP Think it means they are giving you the Sky Max hub as you may have requested so, but that is it, zero else, never a pod, you want that then it's sign-up for the Sky Max addon and pay the extra.... But as you say wait and see!

I signed up online so purposefully avoided the sky Wifi Max checkbox at another £4 so strange they're sending a Max box, maybe they'll hope to upsell at a later date if the wifi doesn't cover the house. Luckily I have an old router in another part of the house as an extender covering a separate wifi network as I needed more than the 3 ethernets available on my BT hub

@SteveLP As long as you can take care of it and do what is needed, personally after having the EE Smarthub+ will never ever go to a hub again that requires you to use a phone and a mobile app, just a lot off rubbish!

@JimM1 Yep, it's a real mess having no standardised telephones for the cable switch off. If it wasn't for my partner wanting us to keep a landline, which no one other than spammers ever ring, I'd happily use my own router. I got a couple of free DV phones from BT when I went FTTP that are now redundant, I'd guess BT are well aware of the fact selling phones locked to their system will put loads of older people off switching when copper disappears.

@SteveLP please consider rdmoving you old router which you appear to be using only as an ethernet switch while it can work routers are not designed to operate as switches and often cause all sorts of issues. A good unmanaged ethernet switch with as many ethernet ports as you need are cheap (under £20 for a 8 port unit)

@SteveLP Sure did upsell on that one, guess you will be archiving the phones then or it's that other famous site for reselling!

Just watch the equipment returns, photos keep reciepts, document and track it all the way back to them, you can ignore all the we want your *bleep* back over and over until it drives you nut's and then you got to go call them to prove hey you got it back 4 months ago, how long do you want to keep doing this forever!!!!

@JimM1 my mum has gone through the copper switch off this week so hopefully she'll be able to use them. She's getting on a bit though almost 90 so to be honest I think she'd be fine with her old answerphone/cordless phones plugged in the router rather than learning how to use the new phones and BT answerphone. But at least she'll have options and as I live far away it'll be down to my brother to struggle through teaching her 🙂

@Chrisee It wasn't simply used as extra ethernet ports, also did a separate wifi network and did some port forwarding for CCTV/network files sharing etc.. Basically it was my previous router when i was with Sky before moving to BT so was all setup with the neccessary rules/etc, after the switch I needed more ethernet ports and too lazy to redo all the port forwarding on a new hub. But yes I do take your point and it's a few years on so am thinking along the lines of a NAS and complete upgrade of my network

I got Sky Max hub you dont have to pay extra for the Sky wifi Max its optional you can l pay £4 extra each month because you can see lll devices connected to your Sky Max hub and from the Sky app you can pause and delete devices you dont need somes times you can get devices that you don't recognize on your network, and you can pause or deleted best to pause them dont delete them because just pause them that way, when they tried to connect, they can't cause he paused it. You get all this if you opt-in for paying 4 pounds extra per month. If you don't pay for our next 2 month. You lose all this, and anyone can connect to your network. And you cannot delete or pause them.
