Sky broadband connection

Router will not connect to Internet from telephone port at point of entry into house, but will connect when plugged into spurred port in back bedroom upstairs. How can I get it to connect at the point of entry?

Is it possible previous work was done to 'move' the master socket to that bedroom, the point near your front door may now just be a dummy one.

@JamesB10 Master OR Phone socket is where the connection will be, ALL EXTension sockets become redundant on a Digital Phone line connection! Wiring changes are required and OR will NOT do so does depend on where the main cable is comming into, and that appears to be where it is working!
