Sky use both OR and CF, if you check your address on the sky site to see what is offered, same up/down symmetrical speed ie 300/300 then CF is required and new Fibre run, if 300/50 the OR is offered and straight ISP takeover for you!

I'm pretty lucky where I live, has three different Full Fibre Networks (OpenReach, CityFibre, and County Broadband).

I'm currently under contract with another ISP running on OpenReach's network. A few years ago, I tried to get full fibre with my broadband, but OpenReach couldn't thread the cabling through a blocked duct. About a year ago, OpenReach finally managed to fix the blockage, and I was able to get full fibre again.

Now, if CityFibre can't thread their cabling through, would Sky just use the OpenReach cabling there instead?

Many thanks

I know they aren't the same network, but what I was asking is if CityFibre can't thread their cabling through, would Sky use the OpenReach cabling already there, and put me on one of their OpenReach broadband packages instead?

@Timalay if you order a broadband service from Sky you do not get a choice of carrier network. Sky will by default place an order with City Fibre if they have passed your property. If CF dont cover an area Sky order from Openreach.Given CF only cover around 20% of the number addresses that Openreach full fibre covers most orders are still with Openreach.

In the case that City Fibre agree thst they cannot practically suppy a property Sky would probably order from Openreach but this is a very unusual circumstance and given the relationship with CF is only a few months old the forum I suspect this hasn't arisen. CF often use Openreach's infrastructure like poles and ducts.
