My street in LS19 has recently been cabled by Quickline. Does this mean I'll only get FTTP by moving over to them? They've started mail dropping their initial offer which is less than half my Sky cost.

I'm not sure whether Openreach will do FTTP alongside Quickline in which case I could wait or whether Openreach have 'passed' and will let Quickline have the FTTP business.

Or whether SKY will offer their service over the Quickline infrastructure ( like they do with FTTC and Openreach).

Ours is a semi-rural address. Virgin didn't bother with us so our only option so far has been over the Openreach network.

Sky doesn't offer service over anything but Openreach infrastructure at present: there's a deal with CityFibre becoming available later this year.

Quickline are now taking advantage of a government grant and installing FTTP to all 18 properties at our address. Individual houses can then chose to upgrade their broadband or stay with their existing supplier - a mixture of Sky, BT, TalkTalk.
So does everyone have to switch ISP to Quickline to get FTTP or will the new connection be available to the other providers?

It isnt a trivial matter for an ISP like Sky to offer services via an altnet like Quickline and the small size of many of these networks makes it commercially not attractive =even if the altnet offers a wholesale product which most don't.

There were several dozen of these altnets but the number is dropping as they merge or go out of business.

So once I have a fibre connected to the property it will be Quickline sending bits over it. Openreach's fibre offering will stop at our nearest cabinet for the foreseeable future.

Are any of these "altnets" required to offer hosting to SKY, TalkTalk, BT et al.
No.

Given the very small geographical footprint of most altnets, it's simply not worthwhile for big Openreach ISPs to negotiate the complex technical and financial arrangements necessary for a carriage deal even if the owners were amenable: CityFibre is a notable exception as they can potentially service several million addresses.
