topic Openreach poor quality install in Broadband

Fibre good; installation dreadful

The fibre broadband works fine. The engineer was very pleasant. However he cut a hole in a newly laid carpet, and ran the cable down the middle of our wall...inside the house. So we have a highly visible cable running from window to skirting board. Surely it would have made more sense to do that on the outside of the house? Not happy atall with the installation. Openreach have said it's fine. Anyone else had this problem?

@Soozym installing the cable external access near ground level is not recommended as it could cause issues with damp although the holes are weather proofed they would not be proof against standing water. If Openreach have checked the install and passed it Sky are unlikely to say anything different but you can complain to see what they do.

You should ideally supervise the engineer while onsite and discuss the options during the installation process. Don't leave them alone and expect a amazing job.

I had my install done only few months ago and the engineer was being difficult and wanted to drill another hole on the wall using a 12mm drill when I already removed the Virgin Media cable and pointed towards a existing hole...the existing hole was used at the end.

Then fitting the ONT box was more drama but I got the setup I wanted at the end. I did not leave the engineer alone to work.
