I got my fibre optic hub installed today after having the standard hub and half of the house now has no wifi and one of the sky q boxes has no signal. When getting sky q originally the engineer out the main box upstairs to boost the signal. Please can anyone assist I have repeatedly pressed all the wps buttons and done a check as I am considering cancelling under my cool off terms

@Feemcc couple of tips first you can change the ethernet cable linking the hub to your new ONT unit to a longer one enabling you to move the hub to a better position if practical. Ethernet cables are essy to buy in any length you need

Your wifi coverage will reduce as the white hub does not support the older Q mesh (sorry @JimM1 it isnt anything to do with security AFAIK it is simple compatability) where your Q boxes acted as wifi extenders. Link your main Sky box to the hub by entering the wifi password rather than wps. Your Q minis can then be linked to the main Q box by wps linking the closest first etc. As their wifi hot spots no longer allow third party devices to connect you will probably need separate wifi extenders for your other devices. My solution was to buy a third party whole home wifi system to replace my 3 Q boxes' wifi but you may want to buy into Sky's WiFi Max system. Changing to a third party ISP will involve a similar change as their hubs are not going to be comptatable with Sky Q either.

Another possible solution is if Sky agree is to return the white hub and use the old black Sky Broadband hub which plays nicely with Sky Q but doesnt support the latest WiFi standards. This is against their public policy but some people seem to have been able to do that if postscsre to be believed.

@JimM1 WPS on the Hub6 works for most devices normally including Sky's Stream pucks. It can work with the first Q node but isnt that reliable but cant be used to link subsequent nodes so Sky Engineers started telling people just to use the password method to link to the hub which does work. The Q boxes will then link to each other using wps.

The Airties mesh Q uses has some oddities but only fully works with matched routers like hub 4.2. Sky developed a work round so customers using different ISPs could buy Q but it is a bit of a cludge the first node connects using the 2.4GHz band and uses the 5GHz band to link other Q nodes.. When orginally launched the hub 6 they refused to supply it yo customers with Q boxes but in the end allowed it but it is a poor match. When Q is no more trying to support Sky broadband will be a lot simpler.
