Just been sent another SR203 instead of 4.2

I've just had superfast fibre 100 installed, upgraded from ADSL.

The router I was on for the ADSL was the 03.

I had a message from sky to say my new router 4.2 was on the way, which I received a few days ago, ready for the installation today.

I didn't bother opening the box, but just gave it to the engineer today, when he opened it he said this is the same model as you have now.

I just rang Sky to tell them, and they said it says at their end that they have sent a 4.2, I told them, yes that what it says in the message you sent me.

I have to take a photo now of the router and send it to them, but my phones up the creak a little bit, so I will have to wait later until my wife comes home.

The bloke on the phone sounded a bit off.

Do you think it's best to send them a photo of my old router showing the barcodes and model number etc next to the new one, so they can see I'm not trying to pull a fast one or whatever?

It wasn't a Sky engineer who came this morning, it was a subcontract. If it had been a sky, he may have reported it back.

The bloke did give me a url to go to so that I could send the photo, but I didn't get a chance to save it.

He's made a note, and I'll have to ring this evening, as my camera's not working on my phone.

The next fun bit is trying to explain I'm sending you two 203's back 😄 old and new.

EDIT: I have just watched a video on youtube of someone opening up what they say is a 4.1, but I noticed on the back on the bottom right it says SR203? Have I got this all wrong? I thought it would say 4.1

OK, sorry for all the posts.

There seems to have been a mix up both ends.

I just spoke to sky again, they still had me down as having the old flat Sky Q router.

I can't remember when I was sent the SR203, which turns out is the 4.2, it was a little while ago.

So, having thought I was on the old one, they sent me the latest one.

I was expecting something else since they had already sent me an SR203 a while ago...if that makes any sense to anyone?

Model numbers are more useful.

The ER110/115 are Q Hubs (the 110 first released late 2015 with the 115 revision following later)

The SR203/204 are Sky Broadband Hubs from 2019 - the 204 is the G.fast version.

The SR213 is the white Max Hub from 2023

Roughly speaking those are 4, 5 and 6 generation respectively.

Yes, sky still had on their system that we had either model of the ER110/115.

But at some point in the past they sent us a SR203.

So thinking that we had the 2016 model sent out a SR203.

I got mixed up, thinking that because we had the SR203 and their message said they were sending out a 4.2, I was expecting something else, like the model number reading SR204.

All sorted now though.

They said that as far as they were concerned we only had the one 203, which is the one they sent out, but I said I would rather send this new one back...being honest.

So anyway, like I say, all sorted.
