What is available here?

Hi,

Thinking of moving landline and broadband from BT which is £78 month. Apparently I have FTTC, i.e. copper wires to house. What, if any, broadband and landline options (where I keep current phone number) does Sky provide?

@Olde1 If you goto www.sky.com and order online, it will select the correct one based on the details that you supply!

The trouble is that when I put my address into these checkers, they say I'm in a full fibre area. In fact, BT twice told me they were converting me to Digital Voice only to mysteriously cancel it. After I phoned them the 2nd time to find out what's going on, they asked 'their provider' (Openreach?) and got back to me that it was because I didn't have Full Fibre so they didn't convert me. So I'm not sure the Sky System will accurately determine what my circumstances are either. I don't want to end up with nothing. FWIW, I'm happy on copper btw.

@Olde1 Use the address checker to see what anyone will find for your address, post the table but hide your relative details.

Be sure to click second box top left and Address Checker to get the right fields up!

JimM1, I get an 'invalid html...that has been removed' when I try to send. I've deleted some strange pictures that appeared, and this is what remains. Don't know if you can make any sense of this at all now....

@Olde1 This is the part, as far as any ISP is concerned you have FTTP available so it will be applied and converted from fttc to fttp!

@Olde1 Post 6 reply is still valid, you are in a FTTP area, so no matter what you are getting FTTP unless any medical etc RED flags stop the process!

@Olde1 do you or someone in your family have an alarm that uses the phone to call someone? Thst would explain why BT declined to upgrade your line as up to a month or so ago Openreach were refusing to upgrade those lines as the new digital lines dont work during power cuts. There has been a change and these lines are beginning to be upgraded however you need to call Sky to place an order as there are quite a lot of questions that need to be asked.

So would you know if I'll be automatically converted to Digital Voice if they install fibre in place of my copper?

Also, I am a bit worried because Openreach (presumeably) cancelled their operation twice so they might be reluctant to do the conversion to fibre for some reason. Don't want to end up with nothing....

@Olde1 Once the picture is cleared for you to view, the system shows MY connection so was originally on the FTTC but now on FTTP FF500 supplied by sky, overhead pole connection straight into the loft where the ONT is fitted, then i Ethernet connected from there to the Routers etc. Yes you have to go digital landline connected to the back off the hub, DV is the BT/EE name and only THEY use that for themselves as the connection, i know back from EE in Mar2025 to sky,

Firstly, yesterday I asked questions here using the account name "Olde1". Today it's impossible to sign-in because every time, it asks me to create a user name. And that's also after logging into the Sky.com website and getting here from there. So I had to create a new one (Olde11) with the same email address. This is with 2 browsers and after deleting history, cache, etc. restarting. If I ever come back, it'll probably have to be Olde111.

Anyway, I tried repeatedly yesterday and today with 2 browsers and 2 computers (Mac and PC) to sign up to Full Fibre150 from moneysavingsupermarket's link (£21/month pluse £50voucher). Everytime it completes the check of my previous (BT) account details, flashes a momentary message (that I eventually screenshotted) that says they've found my account and ready to convert me when I click on the "continue" button. But that disappears to be replace with: "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties. Try again later". And apparently, it's going to be a wait to talk on the phone to a human and I don't have any phone packages. Is Sky always this much of a mess? Because I think I'll look elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure the first sign-up attempt yesterday was direct from the Sky website. Obviously though, if I do that I'll lose the *moneysavingexpert* (what I meant to say it was), deal.

@Olde11 Your post probably got pulled with the heading's! and i was replying also at that time! If you where PM'd and you have the poster's name go look up the user, you can do that and see what they are about! ML has been Jumped, cloned copied and all types done to him, so you either trust or not, but as earlier direct on the sky web site and see what and how far it goes!

FWIW, I've signup to Sky FF150 via phone. I tried repeatedly via Martin Lewis' site and directely on Sky's but was still getting the same error after it said it'd found my BT account: "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties. Try again later". I now have 12 reward/voucher emails asking me to complete the signup which was not possible. In the end it's £26/month. for 2 years via phone. The hard sell from the sales guy for add-ons that were all declined was crazy. If I was a conspiracy theorist.....

@Olde11 That's it they say a man's got to do what a man's etc, as long as you are happy, you know what you have, 1st Apr price increase, watch sky play fair jump down there throat not that it does any good, but as soon as hear the words if you are not happy with it you can leave, principal kicks in and that is what you do, then sky begs you to stay, one shot they had at it, GONE!
