Third Party Routers compatible?

What third party routers work best with Sky Broadband? I was considering purchasing a TP-Link or Asus Router but have heard mixed things if they will work or not. I'm terrible with home networking. I have FTTP at my home address. Any help would be great.

@Denney+Masterx If you are terrible then a sky supplied ISP hub is the best option for you!

@Denney+Masterx TP-Link's range is not a good match as they dont support the main authentication method Sky uses DHCPv4 Option61. Asus routers are popular with Sky customers and they do offer that method. However replacing the Sky hub inevitably requires you to know enough to set up your new router what issue are you trying to sort?

Basically improve latency with gaming and also be able to control some family members Internet access time.

@Denney+Masterx The fullblown router connection is the best way to go, but can be more difficult as the router is just not plug it in like the sky hub you have just now so takes a little bit off work and you get NO support from sky at all.

The 2nd option and i think this is the best for you, is to get a Mesh system, the number off units all depends on what you need to cover property wise, but 2/3 are the most common, 1 has to be right next to your sky hub as you need to cable from that Master Router to the back off the hub, 2 and 3 become sattelite units and once connected to the master you place them through out the home.

Two off the choices are Tp-Link Deco range or the Asus mesh range, both are good and will do the job you need, with Asus you get everything you need and for ever, nothing extra or subscribe to this to do that, with the TP's depending if you need extra then you may have to fork out for that. As you want parental controls i would look at the Asus range XD4 or BD4.
