Hey Everyone,

I am moving to Sky after 23 years on Virgin/ntl/C&W but have a query some of you may be able to answer. (I worked there for that duration too but it's time for something new)

I have a variety of connected smart devices in the house, external lights, internal lights etc. Some of them are old but work well.

Now to save time and effort and make stuff easy I have always set-up a separate SSD channel for them with their own hidden SSD and password in a variety of different Virgin Hubs over the years so I don't have to log into every one and set them up each time they just find the new network and work. Also the passwords to log into them have been lost to time. (I could reset them all 1 by 1, but lifes too short)

I understand from a bit of light research that this isn't possible with the Sky Max Hub as that is not available or greyed out. I wanted to confirm if that is true please and that there is no workaround?

Just want to see if I need to buy a cheap and cheerful WiFi router to plug into the Sky Max Hub for these connected devices.

Ta, Gav.

@GavinBrad Sky hubs do not offer a second SSID although on the older black hubs you can split the two bands and give each a different SSID you cannot do that with the newer white hibs.

Best solution is to buy a cheap WiFi Access Point for your IOT kit as if you buy a full router it is advised to turn its routing services off.

Thank you! And for the super speedy response.

I suppose my further question then and looking at your setup in your profile you'll have experience of this. Is the hub max router good at WiFi or is a home mesh network connected to it a better option? I can pick one up for a good price at the moment.

Ta.
