If sky Q issue then would be looking to wps connect it to the SR hub so it sort's itself out to the hub! only oops on Q is it needs to reach the SR wireless signal to be effective for the streaming side! So your AP may be buffering inbetween them both to aid the signal, that's ok just one node speed hit as long as it works...

Recently went for WIFIMAX.

The hub chooses a channel (157) in the top of the 5GHz band.

My laptops cannot see this channel so they revert to 2.4GHz.

On a phone I can connect to channel 157.

How can I force the hub to go to one of the lower channels.

I did set up the hub off line to get the wifi to work on the laptop but as soon as I reconnect the internet the hub is changed to to the higher channel and goes from manual channel assignment to automatic but I can no longer edit this unless I reset the hub.

Any ideas please?

Dave

Sky Q boxes by any chance as that would explain the issue.

Jim, no it stays on the higher channel.

Chrisee,

I have Sky Q but I have turned off 5.8 on that

When I do a spectrum scan I see weak signls on the lower channels.

If I do afactory reset on the hub I can set the channel manually but when the hub is connected to the internet Sky seems to configure the WIFIMAX to use the higher channel.

My old black hub didn't have this problem and I may just keep it! Not sure of the 'benefits' of WIFIMAX When half my kit can't connect.

Thanks guys.

In the menu fing 5GHz Channel width and choose one of the 40MHz choices say ch 36 to ch44 and save the chang that should free up ch44 to ch52 for the white hub to use but it msy take a reboot to encourage it to switch..

Do you have a lot off device's on the 5Ghz band, was wondering if the CMSA/CA is throwing up way higher. Since you have the SR203 and also using Q may be a wise and better choice to stick with it!

I actually turned off 5ghz on the q box. I will try enabling as you say it but im not hopeful.

No other 5ghz devices close by here. (I'm a radio ham and have spectrum analysers available to check.).

The SR203 works with everthing i need except one item - the skyQ box!

When I go into network settings I can see my router, add the password but it keeps saying incorrect.

If I use a phone hotspot set up with the same SSID and password that works just fine.

I also have anothe AP that I connected to the router and then got the Q box to connect to that - that works as well!

I'm going round in circles and ending up in the proverbialblack hole!

I'll give sky another 30 mins of my phone time to see if they can help!

Thanks for your help.
