I already have Airband FTTP and would like to switch to Sky instead. Does anyone know if the current cabling will need replacing or whether Sky can use the existing Airband setup as the installation date is in a couple of weeks?

I also need to speak to someone regarding the ONT box installation as it needs to be on the second floor and Airband had to use a cherry picker last time for access across an extension roof. I've tried messaging and calling Sky, but I can't get through to anyone who knows. One person gave me the number for Openreach so that I could talk to an engineer, but they refused to speak to me and said I had to speak to Sky. At this point I'm actually wondering whether it's worth the hassle of switching.

Thanks for your reply, here are the notes.

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed with no anticipated issues.

FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

As a fibre priority exchange, FTTP has priority over other products if available at the address

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

This site is in an FTTP priority area where FTTP is available but exceptionally SOGEA will also show as available to order but only at Non-Standard Premises (NSP) such as Hot site, Uninhabitable and Temporary locations. Migrations of WLR Solus (voice-only lines) is also allowed but only for SOGEA 0.5Mbps bandwidths. SOGEA 40/10 bandwidths order is also allowed.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.

Was your airband done via overhead fibre cable or underground . At the minute openreach will likely use their own o/h overhead fibre cabling

Openreach for a standard installation will likely bring their cables across from the telephone pole and drop them down to ground level befote installing the ont 10 metres from where the cable enters the house and 3 ft from the nearest electric socket. You could try to negotiate a different installation on the day either externally or internally via extendin the cabling to a more convenient location

Ideally that's why I would like to speak to Openreach prior to the install. It can't be in a different place due to current ethernet cabling. If they are going to say it can't be done, I need time to cancel the order asap.

Openreach won't speak to you. Theyll only speak to your provider ie: Sky.

Unfortunately that's correct, but there's very little point in having a conversation with a Sky call centre person about ONT locations because they have no influence on that whatsoever.
