WhatsApp received to say we're eligible for full fibre and engineer provisionally booked with options to accept / decline but no facility to ask quesions!

1. Does this involve digging up our drive?

2. Will the connection be to where the old landline connection came into the property or can it be connected to where the router is located?

Hi @Bird88

1. Possibly it completely depends on how the cable is currently routed. If you go to this site and use the 'address checker' then post the resulting table back here we can see what the install process would be.

2. The entry point into the property will depend where the cable comes from. Openreach will usually use the easiest entry point but can run the cable a few meters along the property wall.

The account has a blue tick, and it says they've provisionally booked an engineer in a month or so and that I have to confirm the date.

Sky do send legitimate communication via Whatsapp, however nobody can be certain on the number you received it from. I would call Sky via official channels and check it is legitimate

So the important line is 'UG Partial Direct in Ground' this suggests that at least part of your install will require direct burial of a fibre cable leading up to you home. This means its likely Openreach will need to dig up either your driveway or lawn to get the cable in.

I've just had a very believeable whatsapp from Sky saying that as I'm a Sky VIP I have been given a free upgrade to full fibre and that an engineer is coming. Couple things felt wrong with this

1. Sky have never used WhatsApp to contact me

2. My Sky sccount and orders are not showing anything.

I've rang Sky to see if this is real or a scam and their rep just told me that they're not offering this service. Does anyone know if this is real as the rep started off by saying that Sky doesn't offer full fibre and started trying to sell me the service, which instantly lowered my confidence in getting a reliable answer?
