Copper wire switch off

Due to my degrading copper wires any fixes will be temporary as all copper wire Internet connections will be switched off by 31/1/27, my connection keeps dropping and sometimes im getting 1mbps my question is will my area EVER get fibre optic connection? I live in the somerset area

@Gamer01000 You can check that here https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/where-when-building-ultrafast-full-fibre-broadband alternatively if that shows no plans you may need to see if any Alt Net providers are looking at installing their own network in your area(you will need to use Google or another search engine to find them).

I checked and no provider offers fibre optic in my area yet they should need worried lol

That's a common misconception: this is the revised target date for switching off PSTN (analogue) voice telephone signalling and associated remote power supply, not the end of copper as a data bearer.

Openreach aims to have around 85% of UK addresses in reach of gigabit infrastructure by that date, which indicates millions of copper connections will still be in use for a considerable while yet.

No due to the degradation of copper wires many will not be in use by then mine needs temporary fixing more and more as the months go on

@Gamer01000 And that goes as high as 80/20Mb/s speed's and if you are in that range then there is not a lot off copper inbetween!

Quite possibly, but January 2027 is not the end of copper as a data bearer.

FTTP installations are running at over 80,000 a week: the major upcoming problem is that once the 85% target is achieved it costs to reach remaining addresses than all possible future revenue from rental of the circuits involved. This means non-commercial funding is required, and it turns out government doesn't have any money....
