Sky have texted me to offer Full Fibre 100 at no extra charge and it's unusual to get something for nothing so I'm wondering if once I am out if contract it will go up massively and I will have no option but to pay?

Also is it worth paying extra for anyway? We're are 2 older people not fussed about internet speed but we may go to sky glass later and might need the extra speed.

Just not sure what to do any help is appreciated.

thank you

Be carefull off anything that is to be added on and just make sure that nothing extra is charged, i only had £5 to secure everything, but Sky Advisor was true to her word.

@Sharra wrote:

Sky have texted me to offer Full Fibre 100 at no extra charge and it's unusual to get something for nothing

Openreach/BT Wholesale is incentivising ISPs to encourage migration from legacy copper to new fibre-optic broadband because they are somewhat concerned about the relatively low uptake of the national rollout so far.

so I'm wondering if once I am out if contract it will go up massively and I will have no option but to pay?

By definition prices always increase at the end of a discounted minimum term unless a new (two year) contract is entered into, but at that point the user is free to switch to any other Openreach ISP and take advantage of their new customer prices.

Thanks JimM1, I did try looking at my account and it would be an extra amount each month, nowhere did it mention this offer they sent by text. When I phoned to check was told they cannot see special offers that are sent out and they could only offer what I could see on my account as an upgrade. I just wanted them to tell me it was legit but they seemed unable,to confirm yes or no.
I'm just going to ignore it ........ as my other half said they don't give you something free for nothing which is very true!!

I have also received a message from Sky offering Fibre100. The message is on WhatsApp , which is strange as they have not used that before to contact me. It looks legit , it also has a date booked for the engineer to attend, but doesn't say from which company. The only reply options are Yes or No, no chance to discuss or check if it's legit.

I'm currently in contract until 2027 on copper line, so I'm tempted to hold off and hope they make a better offer.

If you have a healthcare or medical device in your home, such as an alarm, pull cord or button you'd press to get help in an emergency, we need to check that your alarm and in-home setup are compatible with Internet Calls (VOIP). If you have no alternative way to contact the emergency services if your Internet Calls service is down, such as poor mobile signal, we won't be able to switch your broadband to Full Fibre.

As @JimM1 has said, once you've moved away from the copper network to full fibre, you can't go back. Is there something in particular that makes you think that it wouldn't work? Full fibre is the future and produces far fewer faults/issue that the copper/adsl service.

Thank you KevNewMedia, would I still keep the same phone number? At present we only use the line for the broadband. I don't have free/unlimited calls and assume that it would remain the same.
when the engineer visits would they need to install cables into the property ?
thanks for any help and advice you are able to give me. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right them before I swap.
Anita

Thanks for the link and confirming it's genuine. Seems like a good offer . I've looked at other broadband providers and my current cost is about the same as others (not including new customer offers).
I'll probably go for the offer now.

Many thanks for your help. Im still undecided as we changed to streaming tv over a year ago and hate it. Cannot fast forward through adverts and trailers. Plus can never remember which episode we watched last and end up taking about 30 minutes to find right episode as keep having to watch the adverts before we get to the series only to find we've seen that one and then need to start again!! Much preferred the old system where things we put in the planner showed what we had or hadn't seen.
