What can anyone do, Sky promised around 50Mbps and are delivering between 10 and 13 on a continual basic. I asked for full-fibre, not available here. Asked for an upgrade, not for at least another year, open-ended, they said. Their AI makes no sense when discussing it.

It appears SKY are not only failing to deliver the contract but also couldn't care less. So where do I go? Ofcom, social media? The joke is I led an IT department and now because of my age they're treating me like a country bumkin.

Sky and any other Openreach ISP cannot provide FTTP to a location where the national Openreach optical infrastructure rollout hasn't yet arrived, unless the property owner is prepared to foot the bill for FTTPoD ('FTTP on Demand') which would typically run at tens or even hundreds of thousands of pounds for a bespoke connection from the local fibre cabinet.

There's no 'upgrade' in between FTTC which you have and FTTP that you cannot currently get.

Thanks for all your help. I've discuused the with SKY and we've agreed that the contract be terminated. They said "If you're not happy with our service, you have the right to leave your Sky Broadband and Talk contracts without any early termination fees. "

It's not that I am not happy, everyone at SKY was reasonable, it's just that they could not deliver what was contracted for. A fault of the salesman over-promising. I'd have been happy to upgrade to full fibre but I don't think anyone would be convinced by "We hope to become available in your area in future" but when pressed there was no committal even against an estimated time of a year I offered.

I found no problem with SKY, apart from a promise of a minimum of 45Mbps and delivering between 10 and 13Mbps. I would certainly consider them again, with a committment to deliver what's promised.

Owen

Individual ISPs actually aren't permitted to know the detailed schedule of the Openreach FTTP rollout ahead of public announcements, in order to prevent any of them leveraging a competitive advantage. In the absence of specific information they can only go by the current target date of end December 2026 to get full fibre within reach of 85% of UK addresses.
