Red fault light on for months, Sky through mobile prompts me to run test every time and always at the end of check tells me there's a fault on the line, as always I follow the instructions for the fix but it never works, I'm on gigafast but sky has reduced my bill since this has been happening (8 months) any answers??

Just to be clear, is the broadband actually working despite this light?

There's a red fault LED associated with an early model of ONT (on the the Battery Backup Unit) which doesn't interfere with the internet connection itself.

This light would be lower down on the right hand side of the unit in a cluster of three.

Nice one Timmy, the light is in a bank of 3 covering the battery charge, status and fault but it still doesn't get away from the fact Sky keeps telling me there's a fault and just for rer: my last 30 days average speed was 504 gigabytes

@soggybrain

OK: that's entirely unrelated to the broadband connection itself. It's telling you that the AA cells in the Battery Backup Unit are no longer capable of holding a useful amount of charge.

You can choose to ignore this, change the cells yourself (there's a useful video on YouTube) or disconnect the BBU from the mains and plug the power jack directly into the ONT which will extinguish that lower right trio entirely.

Worth noting that this battery backup doesn't actually help in a power cut because the BBU cannot power an ISP router.

Any loss of broadband speed has some other cause.

OpenReach white box shows Fault light and getting Wifi issues. I cannot talk to anyone from Sky! Everything seems automated and this issue is not covered,
