Thank you @Chrisee for your quick response. It is a strange one, if both IPv6 and IPv4, iTunes simply errors out. Untick IPv6, it works fine.

I've tested IPv6 using www.test-ipv6.com and get the following:

Any idea what the highlighted yellow message means? Is there something I need to look at?

Many thanks (FYI, iTunes? Switch to a modern system? I can't cope with such change 😆)

iTunes IPv6

Hi all,

I have a new Acer Predator laptop, that connects via WIFI to a Sky SR203 router which is connected to Sky Fibre.

I've just had an issue after reinstalling iTunes whereby re-deownloading my music libary would give me the error message "network connection lost (3253)". I tried all the listed solutions but they proved fruitless. However, one comment I found mentioned IPv6. If the box is ticked in the network settings it can cause iTunes problems connecting. I've unticked that box and low and behold, iTunes is happily downloading my content.

Anybody else had this issue? It seems odd that it works fine on IPv4 but not IPv6 and indeed, will this not cause me issues further down the line as IPv6 becomes the standard?

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Julian

Currently few sites are IP6 only but in time that will become an issue. Sky have supported IP6 since the early days it would seem to be time to migrate your music library to a modern system?

I'm having zero issues with that app.

Thank you for your advice, it's genuinely appreciated.

Clearly iTunes works for others (your daughter included) within the IPv6 environment, so what's actually causing my issue and will it manifest elsewhere itself further down the line?

I know she still use's it as forever updating and downloading music.

With all the updates that are thrown around now a day's what works today may not tomorrow, it's a fight them as it goes on, that's one off the reason's i am back at sky EE FW updated there hub and KILLED my network, that i was not having, so they told me to go and i did!
