I am new to Sky switched a month ago but still had old provider until yesterday & we are so disappointed Sky Hub Max & 500 speed & it's not strong enough upstairs & keeps dropping out - my son is going to have to use my mobile WiFi device to play his PlayStation - this is not what we signed up for & sort of wishing we had not switched now

@Kez7853 Poor WiFi coverage is probably the most common question we get in the forum. In many homes a single Sky hub cannot provide a usable wifi signal in every room due to the layout and type of construction of the property especially in older homes. Assuming the hub is in the best possible position which is out in the open on a surfsce then the only answer is additional wifi sources.

Your choice.is to either buy Sky's add-on WiFi Max bundle which can supply up to 3 extenders see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max or buy your own wifi system and use that instead of the Sky hub's WiFi.

For decent game play on a PS5 it is worth investing in a better system if running an Ethernet cable from the hub to the console is not practical. Systems like powerline adapters or a decent whole home wifi system are sensible investments for anything other than casual game play.

Thanks I have Sky Max however running a cable from my sons PS to the hub is not practical - I never had this problem with my previous provider & I am regretting the switch to Sky now.

It's in a different part of the house because that's where Sky chose to install but yes no other change except Sky is supposed to be faster - I think we need some boosters as we had them historically but really old now - can I call Sky for these or what is the pod I just want it to work in all our rooms.

Details all below about the Max. Please read. The other way is to get the hub moved back to a far better position area, but that is a how easy to move and will i like where the cable that needs to be run will not displease me or i will hate that....

getting sky max and how to get the pod's
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-booster-what-do-you-need-help-with
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/enhanced-wall-to-wall-wifi-guarantee

Experiencing the same issue here. My old WiFi performed better than this, even though this one is supposed to be faster. It just doesn’t make sense. We’ve had it for only three days and already regret switching. The connection drops the moment you leave the room, and it only works reliably if you’re right next to the router.

They tried to convince us to buy a booster, but we ended up getting it

for free not that it should be necessary in a house this small. Clearly, the design isn’t up to standard. Others, beware.

Yes wifi 6 is a little faster overall speed wise, but it is also that little bit less in pushing the signal around the property. So the SR203 to the SR213 is just not an apples/apples like for like!

Yes they falsely advertise 'guaranteed speeds' etc but don't mention if you don't get the guaranteed results you then have to pay extra on top of your already expensive bill. £48 a month and they are trying to add £4 extra because their product won't work in all rooms. DISGRACE and I regret getting into contract with them. I have family members that are with other providers and they sent out the boosters no problem. But sky will try drain every ounce of money from you. DONT PURCHASE THEIR BUNDLES.
