The free replacement hubs being discussed here are for the outdated Sky Q hubs which will not receive any security updates from December 2025. Those customers affected are receiving emails or letters explaining how to get a replacement. I presume these are being sent out in batches to control the outgoing flow of devices.

So Ive ordered a new hub from sky because the one I have will be obselete from Dec25. A free offer from sky. BUT I also saw my skyq box hub will not recive internet after Dec 25 but no options to update. My skyq hub runs on wifi currently but if i run it directly off the incoming phone/internet line will it no longer work and so will i only be able to use wifi.

It's the Q Hub (internet router) which is not going to get updates past the end of year, although it will still function to provide internet access. Sky needs to replace them and all previous models because they don't meet new requirements for devices connected to the telephone network.

A Sky Q television box is not affected by this, and there's been no announcement of any change in their status.

You have a Sky Q hub for the internet, you also have a Sky Q box for the TV, the two are different. It is the Sky Q hub that needs to be replaced if you have it.

The Sky Hub and Sky Q Hub both need replacing as they aren't compliant with new security regulations. The Sky Broadband Hub (and the white Max Hub, not pictured) will become the only supported models.

It's a genuine letter. I changed my Sky Q hub after receiving a similar correspondence in email format.

There should be a URL quoted at the foot of the letter. When you go to this, there's a dropdown option to change your hub...

Take a look at your options:

Change your hub

Keep your hub and change your hub admin password

Switch to Full Fibre broadband

Add Sky WiFi Max

Here's the legal bit

If that doesn't work you'll need to call Sky to arrange it.
