Superfast broadband which i add ia fantastic , but why after over 20 yrs as a customer do i pay £42 when its advertised at nearly half the price , yes you can say thats for new customers but hey loyalty counts all you get is 5.50 discount. NOT HAPPY cancelled sky q because off the sky high cost looks like i will be looking around why ho why does loyalty count for nothing these days

Because ISPs barely make a profit (or even lose money) on new customer deals. It's the percentage of customers that don't switch which make them the money they are in business to generate.

Better discounts are offered to new customers as an incentive for them to join.

If you choose to jump ship and go with another provider then in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with that provider and if you want you'll be able to return to Sky as a new customer.

Yes they always give new customers better deals i just cant understand how it is virtually double advertised price for loyalty

Does that include a Sky Talk tariff charge?

edit: I think the undiscounted price for Sky Broadband Superfast (which is what I have) is £46pm. I pay less than that including a Sky Talk Evenings and Weekends Extra tariff so perhaps call Sky and see what they can offer you.

Internet is so easy to switch to another ISP on Openreach and join as a new customer deal.

Sky TV is a little tricky as there is no substitute. I have been with Sky TV services for 17+ and always found renewal prices decent....but you need to ask in a special way 😉

@cuckles06 you dont need Sky broadband for any Sky TV service as they work perfectly well with most ISPs. The two products are normally on separate contracts if you are out of the fixed 24 month period contract period you can switch by simpky signing up with whoever you want and they will handle cancelling with Sky.

You can complain about Sky's prices in the forum but dont try and campaign.

Nope, but I did mention the use of OTS and GPL to move provider. (Won't use the names as I think that was what triggered the removal. I've already seeded another post with the word "censored" and it survived, so I know it wasn't that. I've been accused of campaigning before, (unfairly), so I know to be careful of anything that might be construed as a campaign. It happend so fast it had to be automated).

Just been notified...commenting on moderator actions, apparently. Don't believe I actually did that but not worth arguing about.

Edit: Having checked the message sent to me, I criticised the actions of the ISP & ISP's in general. No mention was made of moderator actions. Obviously a very sensitive subject.
